PERSONALITY TRAITS
 

First exhibited in November 2025 at The Brubeck Arts Center in Mount Carmel, Illinois. 

Personality Traits is the result of experimenting with a printmaking method I had not used before. I was searching for a way to make marks that were repeatable, but with a lot of variations, so I turned to colla-graphy, a method of relief printing in which textured materials are adhered to a plate, then inked and print-ed. I thought about how to depict specific traits I observe in members of my immediate family. Each trait is represented by a particular object, and these pieces explore how those traits are passed down from parent to child, and shared (or not shared) among siblings. Colors were intuitively chosen for each person. Beyond being an investigation of familial connection, I feel this subject matter is the perfect metaphor for collagraph and monoprint methods.
